The MPC Struthiomimus

Marx reissue • Marx original issue • MPC

Back to business as usual - the job of a 3-piece Marx mold being done by a 2-piece MPC mold. The arms and legs had to be offset more to make this possible, but results aren't as bad here as on some other MPC figures.

Markings - STRUTHIOMIMUS (left side of tail), LONG (right side of tail)

There's nothing readable in front of LONG. The Marx figure is labeled 6' TALL.

The MPC Styracosaurus

Marx original issue • Marx reissue • MPCMPC

The mold for the Marx figure was a complex 4-piece item (left, right, between all four legs, and the upper front part of the frill). MPC rearranged the legs a bit, then made a 2-piece mold. The frill horns turned out well despite this simple mold - quite a feat. The MPC figure is a bit smaller and thinner than the Marx one.

Markings - 15' LONG (left side of tail), STYRACOSAURUS (right side of tail), 18 or 8 (outside of left foreleg)

The MPC Trachodon

Marx original issue • Marx reissue • MPCMPC

As usual, Marx used a 3-piece mold, MPC used a 2-piece one. The MPC figure is more of a freeform copy this time, much smaller than Marx, and the feet and arms are reversed with respect to Marx (that is, Marx has his left foot forward and right arm up, MPC has his right foot forward and left arm up). Actually I photographed the wrong Marx Trachodon, I show Trachodon (a) in the photo above, but Trachodon (b) looks more like the MPC figure (T. (a) has his paw lifted higher up than T. (b)).

Markings - TRACHODON (left side of tail), 30 LONG (right side of tail)

... there's more MPC, if you can stand it ....
