Starlux Cavemen
primitive man discovers the silver standard
Standing, left to right -
FS40002 - The fellow lugging Hominid Man's Burden is a Pithecanthropus.
Pithecanthropus erectus was Java Man, described in 1891. He is now Homo erectus.
FS40001 - The excitable Caucasian-looking type with the club is a Neanderthal.
Neanderthal Man is either Homo neanderthalensis or H. sapiens neanderthalensis, depending on who's giving out the grants this year.
FS40011 - The guy holding the spear the wrong 'way round is, wouldn't you know, another Neanderthal.
FS40003 - The one with the festive necklace is a Cro-Magnon.
Cro-Magnon Man is named after a cave in which four individuals were found in 1868. He is a modern man, Homo sapiens.
FS40012 - At far right is a cave woman, species and sub-species unidentified, carrying a juvenile, also unidentified.
Sitting Squatting Standing down, left to right -
FS40004 - Neanderthal woman with juvenile.
FS40008 - Unidentified man "crouched in front of fire" - I don't believe Starlux ever made a plastic fire, though.
FS40010 - Unidentifed woman crouching in front of the same non-existent fire.

I don't much like caveman figures, in large part because I don't think they'd be wearing those shabby furs. Yes, I know, Victor Mature wore shabby furs in One Million B.C., and Raquel Welch's duds were almost as shabby in One Million Years B.C., but I suspect that as soon as it occurred to early hominids to wear anything at all, it also occurred to them to wear something relatively well-made.

Starlux Mammoth Hunters
The Mammoth Hunters have different views on monetary policy
Starlux called these five figures Mammoth Hunters. From left to right -
FS40009 Hunter with club
FS40006 Hunter with spear
FS40005 Hunter with rock
FS40013 Hunter with two hands on spear
FS40007 Hunter with spear, arms raised
I have my doubts about the utility of a rock so far as mammoth-hunting is concerned. The club doesn't seem too promising, either.
