The MPC Moschops

Marx original issue • Marx reissue • MPC

The usual story here, a Marx 3-piece mold becomes an MPC 2-piece one. The split here is dorsal and ventral surfaces, so MPC didn't have to offset the legs in the usual inappropriate ways, and they could make the body hollow -

But the dorsal/ventral mold split forced MPC to leave out the nice teeth Marx gave their figure -

Markings - MOSCHOPS, 7' LONG, (both in ventral cavity)

The MPC Parasaurolophus

Marx original issue • Marx reissue • MPCMPC

It looks like MPC bit the bullet on this one and splurged for a 3-piece mold, as Marx did (it's possible that the Marx mold is a 4-piece, but I think they could do it with 3). The MPC figure is notably lighter and skinnier all around.

Markings - 28' LONG (left side of tail), PARASAUROLOPHUS (right side of tail)

The MPC Plateosaurus

Marx original issue • MPC

The standard drill - the MPC version is a bit slighter all around, skin texture is simpler, feet are more crudely modeled, arms and legs have been moved so a 2-piece mold will do instead of the Marx 3-piece one.

Marx original issue • MPC

The front view shows the offset arms and the crude feet of the MPC version. Both Marx versions, Plateosaurus (a) and (b), had that slight list to starboard.

Markings - PLATEOSAURUS (left side of tail), 20 ' LONG (right side of tail)

... there's more MPC, if you can stand it ....
